RE: Un-doing a new RV Purchase (need advice)

Anything over $500. I too get buyers remorse. Can not sleep for a night or two. JMHO Wow. If I had that problem I wouldn't be able to fill my diesel tank!

RE: NASCAR advice needed

I was curious about this NASCAR of which you speak. Went to their official website and its says "Official site from the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing". Stock Car? Can anyone point out even one nut or bolt on these cars that is "stock"??

RE: I have found a way to keep rving................

Look at it again. There is a period after the one. Its not one million dollars, its one dollar. Enjoy your 1/4 cup of coffee.

RE: Front kitchen floorplan livability

We have a 40' Allegro Bus with the front kitchen. I was against the design from the outset. I don't know why I was against it, maybe I just had the idea that it was unconventional and not "right". My DW, on the other hand, loved the layout so her 10 votes beat my 1 vote. Now that we have some time in this floorplan I must say that I like it. I think the thing I like the most is having the TV in the mid-coach position (and lower) instead of over the dash area. That really opens up the view from the driver's seat and all other seats in the coach.

RE: Spell Check

Spell check? I thought only witches checked their spells. The rest of us need a spelling checker.

RE: offer on WAAY to much coach

You certainly can't call it camping in one of those fancy things!! I have a hard time calling it camping in our trailer. NCH That's exactly why we stay out of those nasty campgrounds. We only stay in RV "resorts". Stop by for a glass of champagne sometime.

RE: Where I've been maps

Unfortuneatly the maps don't have a caption like "these are the states I've driven through" or "these are the states that I've camped in". Ours is the latter.

RE: WAS heading to south padre this weekend now where?

Things tend to clear out pretty quickly after a hurricane. I just took a look at the 10-day forecast for SPI on weather.com and it looks good. This is the height of their money-making season on the island so you can be sure that all restaurants, t-shirt stores, etc. will be back up and running in no time . . . if they aren't already. On the positive side, right after a hurricane is the BEST time for beachcombing. You can find everything from civil war era bullets, buttons and belt buckles to old Spanish coins after the beaches have been churned up a little. The last battle of the civil war was fought near SPI . . . several months after the official end of the war, if I recall correctly. Seems like someone forgot to look at CNN back in 1865!

RE: Cross Country Trip-Are these good CGs or should I Avoid?

We will stay at the Oasis in Las Vegas in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to that. As for Trader's Village in the DFW area, I wouldn't stay there. Instead you may want to consider The Vinyards in Grapevine or the RV Ranch in Burleson.

RE: Question about fueling up a Motorhome

Its great to find kindred spirits. I thought I was the only one to blast a half gallon of fuel out of the opposite side filler when I first had the brain fart to open that side to aid in filling the tank fully. Now I just put the high speed pump handle on the lowest lock setting then work around the foaming to get the last few gallons in.

RE: South Padre Island, Texas

We were in Port A. last weekend. I can report that the seaweed at the beach is terrible right now. Its 15 or more feet wide starting at the waterline, then stacks up between 1 and 1.5 ft high. Oh, and it is rotting in the heat. Phew. Don't know if SPI is any better. Other posters are right that there is more to do in and around Port A. and Corpus. The only thing SPI has would be a side trip to Mexico, but I wouldn't be comfortable with that until the narco-war calms down.

RE: Rafter J Bar Question

We stayed at the Lower Ranch section last year and loved it. Its an easy walk across the meadow to the tent for pancakes in the morning. We can't wait to return.

RE: For those in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Mt. Magzine (at 2,753 ft above sea level) is the highest point in Arkansas but not the highest point between the Appalacians and the Rockies, even if the signs there erroneously make such claim. Harney Peak in the Black Hills of South Dakota is the highest point east of the Rockies at 7,242 ft above sea level. Heck, even flat Kansas has Mt. Sunflower at over 4,000 ft above sea level.

RE: Tiffin Motorhomes

We replaced our '06 Monaco Monarch with an '08 Allegro Bus, so it must be a better coach, right? Actually, the dealer we bought from is also a Monaco dealer so we were able to directly compare the Phaeton, Bus, Diplomat and Camelot. The Bus was simply the best combination of features, layout, styling and price . . . FOR US.

Don't drive the Bus . . . I warned you.

RE: Allegro Bus

We've had our 2008 40 QRP Bus since late April. We've put about 2,000 miles on it since then and absolutely love it. We have Tiffin's Powerglide chassis on our '08, something that was not available in '07. Also, the '07 may or may not have the later engine that will need the ULSD. Ours does require USLD and finding it now is hit and miss. That will improve in the future.

RE: Tx 281S & 290W How are the Roads

That low RR overpass is in San Saba. I was scrunching down in my seat to make the RV feel lower when we went through there last month. We were farther South than F-burg but on our return we traveled through F-burg and took 281 all the way to Hico, then on 67 to I-35 before fighting our way through DFW traffic to home.

RE: Texas 2009

I grew up in Brownsville, my wife grew up in Corpus Christi. We lived for a time in Houston and got to Galveston often. Each area has its pluses and minuses so visiting all three will let you form your own opinions. Oh, and we are leaving tomorrow for a very long weekend of camping. Destination - - Port Aransas.

RE: Any good rafting spot within 30-40 miles of Durango ?

There are no good rafting spots 30-40 miles from Durango. But there is pretty good rafting right through the middle of town on the Animas River. ;)

RE: Texas Hill Country

We've stayed in 2 parks on the Guadalupe between New Braunfels and Canyon Lake. They are Camp Heuco Springs (nearer to N.B.) and Lazy L&L (nearer to the lake). Both are fine parks, but I'd choose Camp Hueco Springs over the other.
